I am Shannon Barber. I'm an author, blogger and human being. I write mainly short fiction. I enjoy dabbling in horror, experimental fiction, erotica and the occasional angst ridden poem.

I can trace my love of writing back to one of the first books I ever read. I can't recall the name but it was all about birth and had black and white photographs of a dog through her pregnancy and then close up shots of her giving birth, I read that book to everyone I could. I carried it around and showed it to people. I remember being amazed that words could help tell how a puppy was born.

I'm not certain what the first thing I wrote was. I do remember the first time I thought that maybe I could do that too, I could in fact write things that people would read and love. I was in the third grade and our school had an event called Young Authors Day, I don't remember what my book was about but do remember vividly how much it meant to me to hold a bound and laminated book I had written all by myself.

I was hooked.

I am hooked.

I love words. I love language. I love the fact that I can sit down and let out all the insane things that go on in my head and someone might enjoy it. I love blogging. I love that sometimes I say things that reach out across nowhere and touch people enough that they come back to hear what I have to say.
